Details

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of multi-state payroll and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations. Providing exceptional support to employees and leaders regarding payroll-related inquiries. 

 

  • Process payrolls for multi-state employees in accordance with established payroll schedules
  • Review payroll data for accuracy, including earnings, deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, overtime calculations, and application payroll policies
  • Audit payroll reports prior to transmission to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Process off-cycle payments, bonuses, commissions, and final pay in compliance with state requirements.
  • Process employee status changes, new hires, terminations, direct deposit updates, and other payroll-related transactions.
  • Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reconciliation.
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives and payroll documentation.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or delegated by leadership.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of payroll processing experience required; healthcare or hospice experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws and compliance requirements
  • Experience with payroll systems (Paycom, ADP, UKG, Workday, or similar)
  • Proficiency in payroll reporting and reconciliation
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Certification preferred but not required
